The Monta Capital Story
Where it started
Monta Capital was founded in London in 2020 with a simple idea: some of the most interesting property opportunities sit between traditional development, private investment and institutional finance. We started by building relationships with private investors and developers and expanded transaction by transaction.
Starting in a pandemic
Launching in 2020 meant being careful from day one. We started by supporting developers we knew and built trust project by project. In 2021 we issued our first property-backed bond.
Two markets
Portugal followed naturally. We saw how the depth and liquidity of the London market could sit alongside the lifestyle-led demand of Lisbon and the Algarve. Today we work across Portugal and London.
Two strategies
In 2024 we formalised our lending activity into a dedicated Private Credit strategy. Monta Capital now invests through two complementary strategies: Real Estate Equity and Private Credit.
Looking ahead
Portugal is now the centre of our work, and we are building an established team there. As we grow, we stay close to the projects, the numbers and the people involved in every decision.

2020 | The Foundation
Our first investors, our first developers and our first transactions, built one relationship at a time.
Key milestone: Monta Capital founded in London.
2021 | Building Trust
We issued our first property-backed bond, launched Monta Capital Value Add Fund 1 and began building a track record with our early investors.
Key milestone: Monta Capital begins issuing property-backed bonds.
Key milestone: Launch of Monta Capital Value Add Fund 1.
2022–2023 | Expansion
We expanded our activity in London and established our presence in the Portuguese market.
Key milestone: Portfolio expansion in the UK and Portugal.
2024 | Private Credit
We formalised our lending to experienced developers into a dedicated Private Credit strategy.
Key milestone: Launch of the Private Credit strategy.
2025 | Scaling Up
We continued to grow our pipeline across Portugal and London, with M&G Trustee Company Limited acting as our Security Trustee.
